When to Start

Teeth can be straightened at any age.

Orthodontics for Children

By starting treatment early, we are able to recognize potential problems and correct them before they become more serious.

Early interceptive orthodontic treatment has proven to be beneficial for the overall desired result. Because a young child’s permanent teeth have not finished erupting, we are able to thoroughly evaluate and address any impending problems at the earliest stage.

Orthodontics for Adolescent

Most orthodontic treatments happen between the age of 10 and 16. During this time range teenagers are growing rapidly, and orthodontists can usually take advantage of these growth spurts to help shape the bite and teeth correctly.

Orthodontics for Adults

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. Jaw surgery is more often required for adult orthodontic patients because their jaws are not growing. Adults also may have experienced some breakdown or loss of their teeth and bone that supports the teeth and may require periodontal treatment before, during, and/or after orthodontic treatment. Bone loss can also limit the amount and direction of tooth movement that is advisable.

Surgical Orthodontics

Sometimes, jaw discrepancies are quite pronounced  the upper and/or lower jaw(s) may be too large or small and not fit properly with the cranial base and require orthognathic surgery. This type of surgery corrects skeletal discrepancies in the bony structures of the teeth and jaws.
